TRIOPS
Triops Longicaudatus (aka Triops) are fascinating creatures that first came into existence during the Triassic era whilst T-Rex, Triceratops and other dinosaurs still dominated. Their eggs evolved to survive period of drought, only to hatch once there has been sufficient rainfall.
This rare characteristic enables us to safely store them until a time it is convenient to care for them. Their relatively simple care, fascinating properties, energetic behaviour, reasonable size (Triops grow up to 5cm) and short life-span (Triops live between 20-90 days), lends them excellent educational value whilst being fun, curious pets too.
Triops are actual prehistoric creatures, which are identical to their prehistoric ancestors. They have been able to survive the centuries via a state of suspended animation or "diapause," which has enabled the Triops to survive seasonal droughts.
The Triops has three eyes and because they date back to the time of the dinosaurs, they are also called dinosaur shrimp. Some people call them tadpole shrimp because of their shape, which is similar to the tadpole of a frog.
This great value kit contains eggs, food, water conditioner, hatching tank, gravel, thermo-strip and a suitably-sized, plastic tank to hatch the Triops, with attractive gravel to line the base and create a more attractive environment for them to swim in. An all-round educational product, conveniently providing everything required (apart from the water, of course!). full Instructions included, Box 23cm, suitable for ages 7 and up
The Triops eggs will normally hatch within 48 hours.
